Pro LE Series Embedded Digital Video Recorders

Description top

The Pro LE Series of embedded DVRs use a different architecture to PC-based DVRs. The operating system and DVR software are contained as read-only firmware on a chip. There is no software on the hard disk and therefore cannot be overwritten, corrupted or tampered with. Each of the DVRs in the LE Series has the same features with choice of H.263 or MJPEG recording, 320x240 or 640x480 video resolution, continuous, motion detection based or scheduled recording, audio recording (optional) and high speed Internet remote access. Local operation can be by mouse/keyboard or by infra red remote (similar to a TV remote). This latter method of operation makes the LE Series particularly attractive to users with no PC experience.

The LE Series of DVRs produces high quality video images both remotely and locally and remote access is particularly fast using H.263 compression. The LE Series should not be confused with low video quality, poor or non-existent remote access, VCR replacement systems.

The four models of LE Series DVR are:

  • Pro LE/4 - 4 camera 120fps system, upgradeable to 8 and 12 cameras
  • Pro LE/8 - 8 camera 120fps system, upgradeable to 12 cameras
  • Pro LE/12 - 12 camera 120fps system
  • Pro LE/16 - 16 camera 120fps system

All systems are warranted for 1 year for parts and labor and 1 years' toll free telephone and dial-in support is provided.

Configurations top

All models include a 120GB hard disk, CD-R/W, 10/100 LAN adapter, mouse and IR controller with reader. The LE/04/08/12 models are contained in a rugged, small footprint case. The LE/16 model is contained in a sturdy rack mount case. One additional hard disk can be added to the LE/04/08/12 models while the LE/16 can hold up to an additional five hard disks.

The 120GB hard drive will typically hold between 3 and 6 weeks of recordings, depending on recording speed, when using motion detection recording, H.263 compression and 320x240 resolution.

Scalability:
The LE/04 can be upgraded to an LE/8 and the LE/8 can be upgraded to an LE/12 by the addition of extra 4 camera input boards.

Key Features top
security systems

Excellent Image Quality
LE Series DVRs provide excellent image display and recording quality through proprietary drivers and compression codecs. Video can be displayed and recorded at 320x240 or a true 640x480 non-interlaced resolution which eliminates the 'ghost effect' in motion video seen with many other systems at 640x480.

security systems

High Compression Ratio with High Video Quality
Video is compressed for recording by H.263 or MJPEG compression. H.263 is proprietary compression technology, designed specifically for CCTV applications. It provides high video quality and yet saves a great deal of disk space through superior compression. H.263 compressed frame sizes are typically about 2KB – about half the size of MPEG4 compressed frames and video quality of H.263 compressed frames is excellent.

security systems

Video Speeds
Live video on all cameras is always “realtime” – 30 frames per second (fps) per camera. Recording speeds vary by compression method chosen, from a total 72fps using H.263 compression to a total 120fps using MJPEG compression.

security systems

Multiple Recording Methods
Video can be recorded continuously at maximum speed, On Motion, On Alarm or by schedule.

security systems

Advanced Motion Detection
Multiple areas within each camera field of view can be specified for motion detection (or the whole field of view can be used). A number of pre-alarm frames can be set by camera so that when motion is detected or an alarm input is received, the particular camera or cameras will record the set number of frames prior to the alarm, as well as from the point the alarm condition was generated.

security systems

Recording Playback
Recording log files can be searched by date and time. Recordings can be played back in single camera, quad, 9 or 16 camera displays. Speed up to 2X or slow down to 1/8 speed. Increment backwards and forwards by one frame. Snapshots of individual frames can easily be made for export.

security systems

Security and Stability
ID and password protection are provided so that some people can simply use the system but cannot make any changes, while others can be allowed to make appropriate adjustments. The cameras that can be viewed can be controlled by password. Because no software is contained on the hard disk, software corruption or tampering is totally avoided. Viruses from Internet connections cannot be written to the system.

security systems

Powerful Remote Control
The LE Series DVRs use a standard Internet browser for remote connection, with User ID and Password protection. Multiple remote users can simultaneously monitor the same DVR site through the Internet, LAN or direct dial-up connection. Up to 16 remote cameras can be viewed, remote control of PTZ security cameras is supported and remote configuration of all DVR sites is possible, under password protection. Remote Record Player replays video recordings from remote DVRs.

security systems

Complete Integration
Through an RS485/RS232 converter, PTZ cameras can be locally and remotely controlled for panning, tilting, and zooming. Via an I/O box, the DVR can receive signals from traditional sensor devices to start recording. Motion based recording can be used to trigger external devices such as lights, switchers, gates, and other traditional alarm devices.

security systems

Event Notifications
LE Series DVRs instantly send out notifications when there is an abnormal situation or intrusion. There are several ways to notify an event:
1. Send a text message to an e-mail address.
2. Trigger traditional alarm devices connected through optional I/O device.

security systems

Video Export
Exporting the video as 'evidence' is simple and easy. The “Back-up to CD” selection is made locally from the set-up options. Follow the prompts for camera and date and time. Insert a blank CD in the CD-R/W drive and click “Back-up”. The desired video is written to the CD along with the necessary player for Windows based PCs.

security systems

Audio Recording(Optional)
One channel audio recording is provided and can be synched to any camera. Audio can be heard live both locally and remotely and played back along with associated video both locally and remotely. Because of the legalities involved, it is advisable to check with the local authorities before undertaking audio recordings. The Scorpion Microphone Kit comes complete with all the necessary equipment required to record one channel of audio.

File Recovery on System Power Loss
An automatic file rebuild occurs after any unexpected power loss or software shutdown, limiting video loss to a very small amount.
